Does anyone else straight up love the future? I probably save 10 - 20 bucks every time I go to the grocery store by just jacking shit at these automated registers.

Target started setting up cameras at each booth so enjoy it while it lasts
>>
>>9315283

i really just want to snap a picture up that qt's denim skirt.

god why are denim mini skirts so hot.
>>

Most people know better than to steal from target anyways... You know they have one of advanced forensic laboratories in the world right? The friggen FBI outsources cases to Target from time to time.
>>
stealing from stores is easy but i only do it once in a blue moon and with cheap small things i can just fit in my pocket. just act natural and nobody will suspect a thing desu
>>
Lol I usually "forget" to ring up like half of my shit on those things. There is no way its worth the extra 7 bucks in salary per hour they save by not hiring a check out person
>>
Is this a /stealing/ thread now?
i remember back when I was poor I used to line my pea coat pockets with aluminum foil to create makeshift faraday cages so I could just pocket shit and not set off scanners.

These guys lay off employees and replace them with these machines to save money, yet the prices remain the same. Pass some of those savings on to me or Ill just take them.
>>
>>9315349
>Broccoli? That's cabbage. Red bell peppers? Those are red delicious apples.
I never outright pocket shit but I do this all the fucking time. Some of the prices just don't make fucking sense. Like Green Bell Peppers are $1 cheaper than Red Bell Peppers?
Fuck that. I'm ringing all that shit up as green. For all you know I'm color blind.

OK. I don't think I've even stepped foot in a target since 2003. It's for soccer moms. Do they sell fresh produce? That's where most of my self checkout discounts go to

very limited selection of fresh produce. i believe all the produce items are sold by the unit instead of by the pound because the checkout lanes done't have scales.

I go for a simple scam. Several bunches of bananas rang up as one orange, one orange rang up as bananas. Looks right on the receipt with a quick look and plausible deniability that I made a mistake if they take a close look.

If you want us to stop then stores should have things priced better.
Until then everything is bananas, including steaks.
>>
>>9315412
Almost all the cash "lost" in the highly perishable side of the store is because they don't know how the fuck to manage supply so over half of their inventory ends up unsold and rotting but god forbid they do something about that.

Lol they only press charges for retards, get caught, say oh fuck my mistake, offer to pay on the spot. Done.

Also misdemeanors dont mean shit, maybe it would effect you if you worked unskilled shit jobs, but pretty much only for like a year. even if it was more than a petty (so it showed up on a background check) thats AFTER target spends a ton of resources pursuing you in court and even then you can just get it expunged like a year later.

they kind of do this in the ghetto at tiny convenience stores and shit where the door can be locked by the cashier who is behind glass until police arrive, but yeah it would never work on a large scale store, and with that intense of security people get pretty turned off about shopping there just because of the presense of the security system.

not condoning stealing but automation puts a worker out of work and stops him from circulating money in his own community, corporate profits stay in corporate pockets and not in the hands of the community. You're contributing to a supermarket, not your society.
>>
>>9315608
Wow so much wrong here...

First off you cant have a charge if you were never charged. From what little youve given me I have to guess you didnt go to a court date because you for some reason have a conviction even though you werent charged. Thats pleading no contest.

Court dates can be removed, I have no idea what you are talking about.

Only violent crimes and felonies prohibit you from buying guns except for maybe in Cali or NY. Someone told you wrong.

The grocery store I used to work at had these carts with the electronic wheel brick on them, so the cart would need to pass through a check stand for them to deactivate or else the wheel would lock up as you were trying to get out. Not sure if these are a standard at all stores or just mine.
There is nothing funnier than to see a thief with a cart-full of unpaid for food and goods panic when his cart made a sudden stop at the exit.
Most of the time the person was trying to sneak out, booking it at the last second, and because they didn't expect the wheel to lock, would almost fly over the entire cart.
99% of the time the person would panic and leave the cart and run to their car, a lot of times leaving their purses and/or wallets behind for us to give to the police.
Seeing that pathetic deer in headlights "oh shit I didn't plan for this" look as they ran away was what made my days.
>>
>>9315862
Youd think you would scout out security before going full retard.
>>
>>9315862
We had security come in often, but they were dressed as average people, and would pretend to shop and browse shelves while they were actually watching suspicious people.
When they weren't at the store and an employee or manager saw some sketchy behavior, the manager would say on the intercom "security aisle check" or something along those lines.
It was a complete bluff but it was successful in scary away the people who were thinking about stealing.

I've done it once at a walmart. Not because I didn't want to pay but because there were 2 registers open, the biggest line ever, and my line's incompetent cashier was waiting for a manager. I waited 5 minutes, line didn't move at all. Walked the fuck out with nothing bagged. I had already spent 30 minutes of my time filling up the cart, and I would have just given them the money if they stopped me but I'll be damned if I'm going to wait in line that long just to pay them.

Honestly? There's no real reason not to steal, no security will ever be perfect and no store will ever not be out to profit off of you. There's no reason not to steal, except for one: one reason that applies to very few people.

That reason is fucking dignity. You are all living trash, clinging to the underside of society and undermining the social compact that makes civilization possible. Your selfish behavior is removed from more serious crime only be severity of the act: the intent is still the same, to acquire gain or revenge a perceived wrong doing at the expense of another party.

The only reason you get to keep your pathetic lives is moral relativism and the belief that somehow, every life - an incredibly random sequence of chemical chains and processes - has some inherent value. You are the reason we will never escape this planet. You are the reason we will never have a post scarcity society. You are what kills humanity.

90% of the time you need an attendant anyway for some bullshit or another.

Honestly I'd say they implemented self checkouts way too early. Even now it's a work in progress.
>>
I'm always tempted to steal from Sam's Club. Their self checkouts have the little gun and I can hit all my stuff in about 30 seconds without even taking it out of the cart.
The greeters at the door never check shit like grocerys either, they only check large purchases.

Only thing that makes me not do it is the fact that you have to scan your card so they know exactly what everyone purchases. Their is no anonymity.

I work in the head office of a large supermarket chain in the UK and I've been looking at the logic for Scan as You Shop / Fast Track tills. They're much easier for customers to steal from than even the self scan tills. Essentially it's tied to your loyalty card and then after your first transaction using them, you either go onto a naughty list if you haven't done it properly, or you go onto a nice list where there's a formula for determining how often you get searched.

Its the cost of the service you are paying for. If you want to be able to go in 24/7 and buy 'fresh' veggies then they need to always have them in high enough quantity resulting in some always spoiling.

I could run a store and throw no food away and charge less but most of the time I would be out of something or most things and instead you would go across street and pay the higher price

This is the best way to do it. They might call you out and grill you on your way to the door, but they really can't do fuck about it except inform you that you didn't pay for some of the stuff. Then you just either go back and pay for the rest or walk out anyway. If you get called out a bunch of times, you may get blacklisted from that store, but who cares? Just go to another one.

Not true. Chain groceries can and will follow you to your car, take down your description along with make, model, and license plate, then report you to the cops.

>>9321272
Legal, but never done in chain groceries. The risk of having a minimum wage high schooler get beaten up, stabbed, or shot is a legal liability they don't want. When I worked in the wine & spirits dept the second-in-command there straight told me he wasn't following anyone if they stole booze. He'd file the report and that was it. Kroger's not worth taking a bullet for. It is kind of a one-time deal though.

>If you want to be able to go in 24/7 and buy 'fresh' veggies then they need to always have them in high enough quantity resulting in some always spoiling.
They don't even have consistent inventory though. Every other time I go there's some combination of the following missing: asparagus, cilantro, spinach, cauliflower, avocados, sweet peppers. And those are just the things I look for. Who knows what else isn't there. Even so the amount of spoilage doesn't account for keeping it stocked. There are peak days of the week and times of year where certain things go fast. Why haven't they learned by now? I would guess because the people who actually see the inventory every day first hand are low paid grunts who don't even bother making good reports. It would require a total overhaul and of course less food being bought from farms.

I also think a lot of it is for looks but I don't fucking care if the shelf is full of cucumbers. It doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy. The "abundance" of the store doesn't make me feel better about shopping there.
>>
>>9322661

You fucking serious, right now ?

Anyway, aside from the occasional gum and candy, i only stole one thing. That was a bottle of cheap vodka when i was 14. Two friends and i killed that thing with a few beers and one of us puked afterwards because it was his first time drinking.
Normally most of the stores in my neighbourhood don't have security and i don't fear running from a bunch of fat women.
One time, me and a friend were in one of the worst towns of the near vicinity and he decided to steal some Bacardi.
Thing was, i didn't know about that. I just went out of the store buying a bunch of candy.
Eventually i returned to the train station and waited for an hour for this cunt.
He called me 30 minutes later, turns out he ran from the shop detective, security and they called the motherfucking cops. he managed to escape by jumping into some bloak's garden and hide in the shed.
Imagine, if you will, a 15 year-old edgelord running for his life with a bottle of Bacardi in his hands while getting chased by cops and he escapes by being a horror movie stock character.
We rode the train back home and got drunk during the ride. He still has the bottle and every now and then we fill it with hard liquor and get drunk in front of the store.

This thread has gone in another direction, but I'm very happy to post that my checkout time is fast as fuck without the following:

--Bullshit conversations; fuck off...let's smile and get it over with.
--Double bagging one large item and setting aside...your manager is a prick.
--General incompetence and slow movement...black people and rich whites.
--SO MANY OTHER THINGS

My usual checkout time is under three minutes,
with my own fucking bag and no need for the bullshit.
Scan, scan, scan, scan...bag. With the QUICKNESS.
HOW HARD IS THAT? Apparently very hard for the majority.
I place the item in the bag....

I place the item in the bag....
I stop to ponder life in general....
I wait...
