While I prefer Medium-Rare, I can appreciate all doneness from blue rare to even the lower side of medium well.

I prefer medium-rare.
Rare is fine for some cuts, and a good steak can still be tender at the low end of medium (somewhat between medium-rare and medium on your image), but above that is a mistake.

It depends, when I eat at a steak restaurant I usually order blue rare.
If I cook myself however, I like my steak rare/medium rare because the steaks I buy are usually low quality.
