What are some good snacks or dishes to bring to a friend's BBQ? Something I can grab from the store on the way there and don't have to prepare. Asking for a friend.

combos. everybody loves combos.
Macaroni salad, gay lil sandwiches, also beer is always safe
Side dishes are obvious, any salad. Also stuff like a bag of chips or even baby carrots for bitches. But honestly, for me, it's the McChicken. The best outdoor BBQ sandwich.

To be totally honest, nothing. Don't bring some fucking trash like $1 corn chips or disgusting store-made potato salad or some vile looking dip. The host has probably prepared a nice looking course of home-made food and your shitty contribution is like a paint stain on his mona lisa. Suck up your guilt, and quit trying to make yourself feel better that you were too much of a lazy shit to actually contribute something nice.
Buy some beer or a bottle of wine maybe. Fucker

More often than not a friends bbq won't be filled with spergs getting angry over premade food so this is really bad advice
OP here, I... my friend is bringing beer but I was thinking of grabbing some fancy cheese or pistachios from trader Joe's, I mean he is

Don't bring chips or beer. Bring a box of big trash bags so they can clean up. They'll look at you funny, then you'll hear in a day or two what useful idea that was.
Or bring wings. Everyone likes wings.
I just feel like that's something they would have accounted for already, but I like where you're going

It's a bbq people don't give a fuck about your French rumpstaburger cheese that smells like someone's sweaty taint, a cheese platter is a good idea though
