Where can an American get some quality chocolate? I don't particularly care for most Mars chocolate products and the vast majority of chocolate I find in grocery stores just has this waxy, plastic taste about it. Where can I find some good chocolate? Milk or dark, I like both, but I prefer dark. Can anyone recommend me some chocolate that is accessible to an American? I'm in California if that matters.

Ghirardelli is good.
you should have some places around that make it in house

get gud undutched cocoa, get gud vanilla, freeze some actually-ripe bananas, optionally include some flax/chia/nuts, put in big boy blender or food processor with minimum water needed to make it blend, enjoy your minerals.

Not OP, but their chocolate always tastes like flavorless soap to me.

You can always just visit a nearby chocolatiere if you're autistic about convenience store chocolates like Ghirardelli or Lindt.

Go to any Asian grocery store.
Purchase Meiji chocolate bars.

See's is pretty good, but no bars or anything as far as I know. Cadbury is also good, they sell the American version at grocery stores I think, and the imported at Cost Plus.

I like the Belgian chocolate bars from trader joes
that or kinder chocolate which I was surprised to see in california
Lidnts stores have decent candies and chocolate bars, I mostly buy their 70% dark chocolate. Major cities can have pretty good hidden treasures, just look up google reviews and give the places a try.
