How has proper cooking affected your taste in fast food?
Before I got my kitchen job I loved fast food. Now that I've learned more and tasted actually prepared foods I can't stand any fast food.
I was taco bell yesterday and got to thinking about where this lettuce and tomato came from and threw away the entire meal. I can't be alone on this.

I still crave fast food. That's how addicting it is. I haven't touched fast food in over a year, but especially when I hit the road for longer periods of time, I always crave a greasey burger. Even knowing how much better whole foods taste and make you feel. Just the thought of how corrupt the industry is is enough for me to will myself not to. It's just unbelievable that this shit doesn't have a disclaimer for how addictive it is.

Greasy shit created in labs to taste "good", last as long as possible, and be as cheap as possible. It just ain't right.

you mean your parents never properly cooked for you?
I eat fast food maybe once a month.it's really disgusting, I work in a pretty nice restaurant and I'm no stranger to prepping my own meals, but every couple weeks I get some sick satisfaction from slamming like 3000 calories of tbell.

I crave the idea of fast food.
I'll crave kfc, or fried rice from the Chinese place and when I get it, I remember why I stopped eating it.

This exactly.

I've kinda come to respect it. I still don't eat it much but fast food chains like BK, Wendy's, etc are fascinating in a way. They're efficient and basically foolproof. Plus they're ridiculously successful examples of marketing, food science, and business. For better or worse they're the most popular restaurant models in the world.
