Don't. Appearance of food factors into the psychological effect of eating. It's the reason that the old adage "presentation is everything" exists. While it's not impossible to enjoy bad looking food, visually disgusting food can be interpreted by your body to taste worse.
Studies like the one that keeps flagging me for spam show that "off colored" food can taste different or worse than "right" colored food. Just google "food color effects flavor."
