Does coating frozen French fries in olive oil make them soggier?
I haven't eaten fries in ages, and didn't want to go to a fast food joint so I got frozen fries instead. I was really craving them. I coated them in olive oil because I thought that makes them crispier, but they're just soggy.
Was I wrong?

Frozen fries are always a recipe for disappointment.
Get potatoes, cut them up, double-deep-fry them. Anything else is a recipe for sadness.

Did you bake them in the oven or fry them?
Either way, you chose the wrong oil to use with them. Olive oil's flash point is too low for deep frying.

>flash point
Surely you meant smoke point.

1) smoke point, not flash point.
2) that only applies to EVOO. Normal olive oil has a perfectly acceptable smoke point for cooking with. deep frying included.

trick to crispy fries is to first fry'm 1-1.5min to defrost them; Then do the final fry 10 minutes later
