Is buying from a local mom and pop place worth it for your food? I've never done it before, but I know people talk it up as much higher quality items. Any truth to that?
Yes and no. Some of it is just hipsters being hipsters, some mom 'n pop shops *do* legit have higher quality stuff, some of it is just people memeing because they are vacuous wastes of space, some of it is people who honestly don't know any better because they were shopping at the wrong conventional stores to begin with. Just because one mom 'n pop shop in Bumblefuck, Nowhere stock produce/veggies from competent local producers doesn't mean every other random mom 'n pop shop will.
>tfw you'll never own a house because you need to be seen as cool by buying products comparable to supermarket items for 5 x the price
Dunno about "mom and pop" but I often go to specialty stores, got a butcher and a seafood place just down the road and you can get better/more things than at the supermarket

doesn't that count as a "mom and pop" place?
