Owning zero kitchen items, what are some of the essentials I should get?
>>
>>9228685
We can help you better if you can mention where you're located and what style of food you're cooking.

But generally speaking, this stuff is essential:
-A chef's knife or similar
-A tool for sharpening your knife
-A cutting board
-A large skillet, fry pan, or wok.
-Small and large saucepans with lids
-Measuring cups
>>
-wisk
-vegetable peeler
-potato masher

I know it's for advertising but they always have the most generic line up in the photos for kegerators and beer refrigerators.
>>
Pots and pans:
1 large pot for boiling pasta water, potatoes, corn-on-the-cob, soups, stews, and stocks
2-3 small/ medium pots for cooking smaller quantities of vegetables and sauces
1-2 large skillets with lids for sauteing and pan-frying
(optional) 1-2 small/ medium skillets for sauteing and pan-frying a second component of a dish at the same time
1 colander for draining pasta and draining canned vegetables
2-3 mixing bowls of various sizes for mashed potatoes and dough

Knives:
1 chef knife. That's it. That's all you really need.
1-2 cutting boards
(1st optional) 1 paring knife for close detail work
(2nd optional) 1 bread knife for slicing fresh loaves

Measurement:
1 set of dry measuring cups
1 large wet measuring cup
1 set of measuring spoons

General tools:
1 can opener
1 whisk
1 potato masher
1-2 spatulas
1-2 ladles for soups, sauces, and gravies.
1 set of tongs
1 vegetable peeler
2-3 cheese graters, various sizes

Notes:
The lids on your frying pans don't just keep your stovetop clean from spattering grease. They're there in case something catches on fire in the skillet. DO NOT dump water on a grease fire. Put the lid on to smother the flame and grab a fire extinguisher.

Get one of these mini oven/stove things.
Induction preferably if you can afford it.

Or you might actually get a real oven if you are planning to stay.

What is that, a tortilla-to-taco converter?
>>
Keep it minimal. Don't go out and spend 500$ on a bunch of shit you may hardly ever use.
Buy the basics and acquire the rest over time as you need them.
>>
OP here, bought a wok. What's the best way I should season it?
