If its a clean cut, as it, you can close the cut and the flesh tacks together, looking fairly seamless, you're fine. Clean it with rubbing alcohol, or a disinfectant; gauze it, and then some adhesive stripping (masking tape works, sticky plaster roll is best).

Rotate dressings and clean area every 12 hours.

If you have touched bone, blood vessels, tendons or if the cut wont go together cleanly, seek medical attention. It might get better on its own, but your finger wont be the same.

If it won't stop bleeding or close, try packing it in sugar. That's a trick my ozark grams taught me to avoid having to turn over all my shekels to the medfag pirates. It's served me well through the years.

Anyone have one of those culinary safety videos for handling hot oil? You know, the ones that are much more graphic than needed, showing what it looks like as someone's face is melted until they can no longer scream?

Chopped the tip of my thumb off once. Fingernail came with it. There's that brief moment where you know something doesn't feel quite right but you haven't registered pain yet, then you look down and realize what you've done.

Everything grew back 100% though so it was all good. And now I have PTSD and don't like handling knives. I didn't realize how sharp a knife really was until then; realized if I had worse luck it coulda been down to the bone (or farther).

My brother recommend cut gloves. I've also switched up my cutting technique but I still get triggered by sharp blades.
