I used to be kind of a picky eater, my dad loved spicy stuff.

He died of lung cancer last year, so I started trying spicy food because it reminds me of him. I've since grown to love certain types of spice, I wish I had spent more time cooking with him.

I used to have roommates that did not respect what food is belongs to who. My left overs always disappeared and no one ever knew what happened. I started adding heat to the dishes because I knew my roomies couldn't handle hot dishes. Eventually my food all became stupid hot and I started to love the burn. Most anything I cook now years later still has plenty of heat solely because of shitty roommates eating my food.

I can appreciate a little heat. I do believe there are people who have ruined their taste buds by overindulging in super spicy food all the time though.

I really like the feeling of getting hot from the food. Getting a runny nose from the spice also helps wake me up in the morning and open my sinuses.

I'm Polish and Irish (so pretty white) and put ghost pepper hot sauce/salsa on every meal at home.

I think it's a low taste bud count since I can't taste subtleties in really any food, but very spicy stuff comes through.
