Yeah it's so odd. I'm from Arizona and the Mexican food around the state ranges in quality too, but you're more likely to find a great Mexican restaurant compared to San Diego. Best way I can put it is this, I travel a lot for work, I stop in random places in California or Arizona. I'll ask around and usually find great Mexican restaurants, but it's always San Diego that's disappointing. Yeah there's good taco and burrito shops here but there's more to Mexican food than that. Hell, I find better Mexican food in inland empire and Los Angeles.
