My best guess would be that they found from a focus group that it alters the perception of the eggs, that they seem fresher or something. That or it's just a cutesy thing to bring a slight amount of joy to the customer's day, like putting smiley stickers on packages or using bags that say "have a nice day" on them.

Also seems like the logical progression of the speakers above produce that play thunder noises when the misters come on.

I'm hard pressed to explain why. However, I work in a factory with earplugs in all the time and it is much easier to listen to the radio or have a conversation with the plugs in than out. I guess the plugs stop the background noises that sort of haze together and let your ear and brain concentrate on the music.

Earplugs are only effective against certain frequencies. If a sound is made in a frequency that the plugs aren't very good at stopping then it will go right through.

Plus, they only reduce the volume of sound, they don't block it out completely. The longer you wear earplugs then your hearing will adapt, just like your vision at night or in a dark room. At first they might block out a lot of things but wait 30 minutes and suddenly you're hearing those things again.
