Hey /cooks/,
recently had lunch with a dutch friend and the table besides us ordered a pretzel. When my friend saw it he was pretty chocked of what we called a pretzel.
I'd like to try my hands at making some. Do you guys have a recipe and/or tips? First time trying this. Thanks mates

>what we called
>we called
>we
Should we assume that you are in Germany?
Also, what do the Dutch know about pretzels that would shock them?
You and your friend sound like a couple of idiots.
a pretzel is just dough in a stupid shape. too much effort. just roll out some dough with some cornmeal, rise, divide into pieces, and bake.

My bad, forgot to mention this happened in Montreal, I'm a Canadian. Just wondering if the Europeans had a different version of what we call a pretzel.

>some other country makes a salt crust bread product different from wonderbread
>that's scary and unfamiliar so I'd better condemn it to uphold my national honor
There is a lot of good recipes for all kinds of soft pretzels on youtube and the interdwebs. I like ones that include milk in the dough. They just seem to come out better. Just google soft pretzel or mall pretzel recipe and sort through them. Some of them really suck bad with super sweet dough though so keep that in mind. This recipe below came out looking like this and they were pretty decent. Less salt would have been good.
