I'm moving out in around a week or so, and I'll pretty much be learning how to cook as I go along.
What are some good meal planners/recipe apps and sites that can help me get started?

Haven't seen this thread before.
Do you own any cookware? Like a bowl and a cup, maybe a spoon?
Microwave ovens and instant coffee are both punishments for being in a hurry, avoid them.
What do you like to eat? Or, more to the point, what can you afford to feed yourself?
Really basic list:
A knife or two (6" chef's knife, 3" paring knife)
A fork, spoon and knife to eat with
A plate or two
A pot to heat water et cetera in
A pan to cook shit in
A steamer insert (cheap)
A vegetable peeler
Some tongs to grab food with
Spatulas, flippers, et cetera
A colander to drain stuff
A salt shaker
A pepper grinder
A toaster or toaster oven is nice to have
A cutting board (not wood)
A dish sponge and some dish soap and a rack to dry your dishes/pots/pans
A wine glass
A corkscrew
A can opener
A drinking glass or two
A salad spinner (chicks dig salads)
Some dish towels to clean up
That's more than enough to get you started.
Major stud god grill hardware:
A charcoal grill
A charcoal chimney
A box of matches
Some newspaper
When in doubt, grill. Very many.
If you're serious about cooking/baking:
A digital kitchen scale
A Therma-pen instant read thermometer
A KitchenAid stand mixer (get the good one)
Learn how to clean, cut and steam vegetables. Cheap dinner, and healthy.
Very MANLY, not very many.
A rice cooker is worth the money. Between rice and steamed vegetables you're all set, or at least you won't starve. A blender is great if you like smoothies. Or blended margaritas (chicks dig blended margaritas). Also good for crepe batter, but that's another story.

>not sauteing them
Are you some sort of cuck?

Steaming potatoes, carrot, broccoli. Saute mushrooms and onions and then serve them together.

>steaming broccoli
>steaming carrots
Why do you hate texture?
Broccoli is excellent after sauteing, just add a little peanut butter, oil and pretty much any sauce to finish it off.
Carrots work much better in a stew. Steaming them should be a crime.
I've never really steamed potatoes, how does it compare to boiling?

Allrecipes is good, but avoid any recipe with cheese in it on that site until you are decent at cooking
It's not that cheese is bad to use in a recipe, but 99% of recipes w/ cheese in them on that site are fucking disgusting combinations of excessive cheese and <<insert numerous meme ingredients>>

Why ? Wood is the way to go, plastic goes to shit too quickly and glass is horrible for your knife.
