They bought a failing tire manufacturer in 1927 and things kind of took off from there

Attention to detail.
I've been in a few michelin restaurants and what makes them stand above the others is taking the extra steps in order to improve the dish.
Like a normal good restaurant is 80% good but a michelin starred restaurant takes the longer way of making it 100%.
