Never made risotto. Don't think I've ever eaten it. But somewhere in my culinary closet, it lurks.
So I finally bought some arborio rice.
Steer me towards enlightenment, /ck/.

lots of people make it sloppy. don't. that's lazy risotto.

Heat up a little oil. Cook some chopped onion til softened and a little brown. Add minced garlic, cook a minute. Add rice, cook another minute or two.
Ladle in hot broth about a 1 cup at a time (if you're using 1 cup of rice, prepare 5 cups of broth, you might not use all of it though). Stir until the broth is mostly absorbed, then stir in more. Keep doing this til the rice is done. Stir in a dab of butter at the end and season with salt/pepper. You can also add chives, Parmesan, splash of heavy cream, etc.
If you want, replace some of the broth with white wine.
