How do I cook rice? I have a 'tall pan', a circular tube shape to cook things in. it looks normal i just dont know what they are called. But I dont have a lid. Can i cook rice without a lid? I am really hungry but i only have rice. So i want to eat the rice like gooks do (dry and sort of sticky) sorry for autism

Don't cook rice without a lid unless you want a shitty unevenly cooked shitty pile of rice
If anything find a chinois and steam your rice over boiling water on your pot, covering the setup with a damp towel to trap the steam

I cook my rice "the african way" as we say here.
> Boil water
> Put rice
> Wait 10 minutes
> Drain rice with a sieve
No lid. And acceptable rice (I use basmati). You can mock me but it works

this thread explains why people praise ricecookers.
how hard is it to boil rice in water with a pinch of salt?

It's not hard. I literally just did it bc this thread made me hungry.

> watery
Don't just remove the water. Put the rice into a strainer and shake it.
> doesn't taste much
I use rice for chinese meals, so it's not a problem for me

get a rice cooker , it just werks
>don't rinse the rice
>pour twice as many cups of water as raw rice you want to cook, a little less for firmer rice
>bring the water to boil and salt it
>throw a thin pad of butter in the pan with your rice once the water's boiling
>stir the rice until the butter fully disolves
>drop the heat as low as it goes and cover the pot
>walk away for 20 minutes
>come back and stir the rice
>serve
perfect every tiem. I add sriracha after cuz I like a smoky butthole
