What Japanese food is a must try? My experience with their cuisine is pretty much only miso soup and sushi and I'll be visiting Tokyo next week. I got on my list
>Chankonabe
>Ramen
>Natto
>Omurice
>Takoyaki
>Shabu shabu
>Mochi
>Okonomiyaki
>Melonpan
>Kaiseki
>those fat pancakes
Any recommendations or favorites?

Honestly you'd be able to get most of those foods in an major metropolitan area. I'd go with:
>Kaiseki
>real authentic 100% Japanese sushi
>high quality Junmai sake
>uni
>wagyu beef
Fuck katsudon, get some kitsunedon
I really want to try unagi, the glaze makes it look so appetising and apparently it's pretty delicious for how simple it is

Also do some people get drunk with it straight out of the bottle or what

It tastes like warm flat rice beer. It's served in little cups or bowls.

Sake's smooth, a little bit sweet. I'm actually not as big a fan of it warm as I am room temperature/cold.
I've gotten a little buzz off of a bottle of sake before, but that makes sense, it's about the same alcohol content as wine.
