if you're "too scared" to eat a kind of meat, maybe you shouldn't be eating meat.

the fact that meat grosses us out in its purest state means that our empathy is being triggered and we are essentially too aware that what we are about to eat is the dead flesh from another living being.

animals are conscious, feeling beings, and ethically we should not view them as property for us to do with as we please. factory farming is worse than the holocaust, and you should be on the right side of history. don't support the wanton murder of free agents just because it suits your palate. humans are not more inherently valuable than non-human animals just because we think more and have a language we understand. that is blinding ourselves to the reality of the animal mind.

In the US, you'll be playing russian roulette if you eat rare chicken from a grocery. If you raised and butchered the chicken yourself being careful not to pierce the digestive tract and having the contents come in contact with the meat you'd probably be fine eating it rare. I've done it, but I didn't care for the flavor of it. I'd rather have it fully cooked.
