Doesn't really seem like a good pair for shrimp. Either it's going to be sweet, or you're going to spice it so much to make it savory that it's going to overshadow the shrimp.
Try salt, pepper, and cayenne. Maybe mix in an egg and make patties.

I don't think sweet potatoes need butter and milk like white potatoes, they're already moist enough. A tiny bit of butter could be okay, but it's not necessary.
I would just add salt and pepper, and maybe nutmeg.
