I have family and friends that don't use seasonings when they cook they just pour salt on after, so if I cook anything and even use a bit of salt in it they then complain its too salty before pouring salt on the dish. This also happens with cooking with oil where they get triggered that I would cook something in olive oil because its so "fatty" rather than cook it in butter and then top it in butter. Just asparagus roasted in olive oil with some Parmesan they bitch about the oil then put butter on it. Bake a cut of meat with some potatoes around it that soak up all the juices and make a sauce with the drippings, they just take the potatoes and say they are salty then put huge chunks of butter on them and salt them. Do people that don't cook with spices just not understand that food should have flavor more than just salt on the surface? I just don't understand how shit can be salty when I toss in like a pinch its all mixed in properly but then they put salt on top.

I think they are used to the texture of it and how different it tastes just putting salt on something versus cooking it. I was pan frying ribeyes and did like 3 and no complaints about it being salty my grandma told me not to put salt on hers because she tried someone elses and it was way too salty. So I told her to cook her steak so she just burnt it for 20 minutes in butter then after put salt all over it. It has to be a texture thing and I don't fucking understand it at all. The only ones who take it seriously are my SO, and the one friend that tried to force tea on me until I drank it before promptly vomiting all over them. Everyone else assumes it's just being picky, making things up, or jumping on a new fad like gluten-free.
