McDonald's has even used the "signature" taste profile of its Coke as an advertising point. Freestyle sodas all have this weird bitterness to them, and sometimes even sort of a sulfuric bent to the flavor-- other restaurants don't care about these minute changes to the soda, but McDonald's has an image to protect

exactly my struggle
i work afternoon shift with copious overtime, sometimes we get out after 3 AM and I'll pop over to McDonald's only to be told it's breakfast menu and cash only (because they're rebooting their computers)
