My friends all think I'm nuts.

When I grill wings I like to season them with black pepper and Weber Kickin Chicken seasoning then brush buffalo sauce on them. Not really unorthodox but most peoole that try them say they have a unique flavor. Pic tangentially related

My wings are pretty unorthodox. I smoke then grill them, and I use whole wings, without separating them. I brine them overnight in a mixture of buttermilk, seasonings, and hot sauce. Then, I smoke them over a fruit wood, either apple or cherry, usually. Then throw them on the grill to get crispy, and then dunk them in my hot sauce-butter mixture (I usually use about 3 different hot sauces, butter, plus seasonings), and throw them back on the grill over low heat to let the sauce glaze them, then dunk them in the sauce again, let it glaze again, then dunk them a last time in the sauce and serve. With homemade blue cheese dressing and celery.

I should note that I brush the buffalo sauce on while they're grilling and let it cook on. I guess it's unorthodox because most people would use a bbq sauce or something that would caramelize. It works though

Thanks, they're pretty good (at least everyone I've made them for seems to think so.) I haven't made them in awhile (since it was raining here for so long) but now it's time, I think I'll make some this weekend, probably on Sunday. Mmmmm......

Take pics and make a thread if you make them!

Will do!
The smoking and the sauce glazing is the real secret for those wings, because it adds so much depth of flavor. I mean, if you really like hot wings, doing a glaze twice before the final saucing really layers that hot sauce on. And of course the smoke adds even more flavor.
Personally, I like to just take the entire plate of hotwings, and shove it up my urethra.
