Because they learned from their parents that grass, lettuce, etc, are green, same as everyone else.

But peanut butter looks the same to them. Or it looks the same as peanut butter. Doesn't really matter which.

I put some celery and peanut butter through one of those colorblind filter websites. It represents the color of both of them as brown.

Just in case you didn't know, bread (the crust, or wheat/rye bread etc, or cereals like wheaties or corn flakes) isn't green either, so there's not a color contrast when you eat those things with peanut butter.
