>Turkish/Middle Eastern restaurant
>Blares weird easy-listening Arabic hip hop music outside so loud you can hear it down the street
>Owner mumbles something completely unintelligible even if you speak his language into a microphone every five minutes
Why is every one of these places so goddamn loud and obnoxious? And why do they all call themselves Mediterranean?

>Why is every one of these places so goddamn loud and obnoxious?
They're not.
>And why do they all call themselves Mediterranean?
Ummm... maybe because Turkey is on the Mediterranean?

I can't say I've ever experienced the music you describe, though I do know what you mean about the unintelligible announcements.
>>And why do they all call themselves Mediterranean?
It's far less offensive than calling themselves "middle eastern" or "arabic".

It's not much of a descriptor. Spain and Morocco are too, and their cuisine couldn't be more different.

Mudslime bootlicker get the fuck out.
That's weird about the music. There are tons of places like that around me and I never noticed the music. I love shwarma and falafel so whatever.

It is a descriptor here though. The Mediterranean diet is a thing. And it doesn't take much poking around to find pretty much the same dishes in Spain, Morocco and Turkey. Quite a bit of historical overlap between those countries. Look at dishes involving beans, eggplant and desserts.
