They're nice with meats. You can cook some steaks, chops, burgers, hot dogs, etc. in it. Not so good with bread stuff. Donuts still taste like baked donuts.

That's not the point of a "fryer". You fry low-fat things like potatoes, chicken wings, and egg rolls to make them crispy.
