Broke college kid here

thx
inb4 the huge info graphic!
Ginger powder
Hot dogs
Syrup
Pepper
Pepperoni
cum
pan fry some veggies
stop buying shitty ramen
inb4
>it's all shitty
it's not. top ramen and maruchan and cup of noodles are absolutely garbage though.
>>8792676
i add a dash each of soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil when i mix the powder in, makes the flavor pop way more
>>8792676
meat, you imbecile
>>8792676
make it from scratch for the same price/cheaper and better tasting you lazy fuck
>>8792676
How is this even a thing anyone needs suggestions for? Is it that fucking hard to experiment with cheap ingredients? Or are you just shitposting because you know we have this thread 10 times a week?
>>8793005
Ya know, I know this is probably true with most foods, but I doubt making ramen from scratch is cheaper than buying top ramen. You can buy it in bulk for like 15 cents per package
>>8793034
Plus each package has 2 servings, so that's 7 cents a bowl.
>>8792676
Get take out from a ramen shop and add that to it
>>8792676
Dried squid, dried black mushrooms, fried pork skins, sausage, frozen veggies, Pico de Gallo and lime, red beans, dried shrimp, Apple slices, cheese, vinegar and soysauce
>>8792676
Find asian store. buy Mama tom yum (shrimp flavor). find a store that sells salad shrimp. put salad shrimp in ramen. also get some asian red pepper powder at the asian store.
Shallots, scallions, peppers etc
>>8792676
Here is a suggestion as someone who has BEEN broke, like 4.34 in the bank account broke, stop fucking buying Ramen. Ramen is NOT CHEAP anymore. Rice
Dried beans
Potatoes
Milk because you fucking need calcium
Those are fucking cheap.
Ramen fucking sucks; I don't understand /ck/'s obsession with it. Fish broth noodle soup and then you dump a fucking egg on it? Like are you serious nigger?
Its not cheap or tasty, its a fucking weeb meme food.
>>8792862
>stop buying shitty ramen
>broke college student
>op cant afford better ramen
egg + ramen packet + seasoning (garlic salt, taco seasoning, something spicy, whatever fits your taste) + onion + mushroom (only if you can get for cheap)
everything you need to know is here
>>8792878
>>8793528
>cheap, quick, and easy
>egg adds lots of necessary (and cheap!) protein and calories
it's hardly a weeb thing and more of a budget thing
>>8793532
instant noodles are a convenience food. if you're poor eat actual poor people food like rice and beans.
>>8794388
or you know... pasta and learn how to actually make pasta taste good
>>8793519
no, ramen is cheap, < 25c a meal is pretty tough to beat. however most "broke college students" are really just living off loans/grants/parents money, blow their financial load for the month in the first week then realize they don't have any food, or have other glaring budget issues that they could easily eliminate and not eat saltwater noodles for every meal
>>8794388
you're arguing over which meal costs more pennies, 5 cups of rice from wal-mart costs 2.16, so that's 32c for 3/4 cup of rice which is almost the same as a comparable amount of ramen, if not slightly more expensive. a pack of ramen is 18c.
i live off of ramen, i eat it 7 days a week
but i also add veggies and meat to it to make it more nutritional
>>8792676
Is there a guide to make ramen noodles from scratch. I wouldn't mind something like this for lunches on a daily basis but the prepackaged ones are so unhealthy
>>8794529
sorry, no, there are no guides for this anywhere
nigga google
>>8792676
When I was a poorfag a decade ago I would add cheap frozen vegetables to it and poach eggs in the broth. All in the microwave. It wasn't horrible, but thank God my instant ramen days are over.
>>8794459
you have to eat over 5 packs of instant noodles a day to rach 2000 calories. eating that many will also give you 380% your reccomended allowance of sodium. or you could eat a cup of rice, a couple eggs, and maybe a piece of pork or chicken and not die before you graduate.
>>8794540
Jee thanks
Freshly cut Chinese Green Onions.
You can grow these easily using by planting the roots and white stub, I'm growing some now out of the bottom half of a dish soap container that fits onto the narrow top window ledge.
>>8792676
>buy big bag of cheap frozen chicken breasts
>get eggs
>cook chicken
>drop in chicken and egg while ramen is cooking
>red pepper and garlic powder
wa la
>>8794799
im growing mine in glasses on the window sill
do you grow yours in soil or water?
>>8792676
Eggs.
Green onion.
Chilli slices.
Fried shallots or onions.
Eat it with rice. Taste heaven.
>>8794799
Did I do this shit right? Will it root?
Bottom of a white onion.
I've never done an onion like this. Just an extremely successful pineapple clone.
And what about potatoes? Should I trim them down to the eye very much? How much tater to leave on the eye so it isn't inclined to rot?
>>8792676
One can never go wrong with garlic powder.
>>8792676
There are lots of different ways to cook it. I would invest in some spices, they may seem expensive at first, but many only need to be used sparingly and basically never go bad. Here are a few that are always good in ramen.
>Chinese five spice
>Garlic Powder
>Ginger Powder
>Tumeric
>Chili Powder
>Paprika
Also toasted sesame oil and fish sauce are bomb.
If you are super poor I would also recommend buying potatoes, cabbage, rice, peanut butter, and dried beans. Ramen is a meme food as far as cheapness goes. Per calorie it's not that cheap and it isn't good for you.
>>8792676
get/make pork stock
Am I the only one who adds Mirin (rice wine) to my ramen? adds this delicious sweetness.
>>8795257
>do you grow yours in soil or water?
>>8795533
Soil, I've always grown my onions straight in soil - I guess this is a left over from when I grew up in a house with my parents, after we brought green onions, we always bury the ends in the garden, they never grow fast enough to keep up with demand but it was a good supplement!
I might give the water thing a try with leeks. I never did water with onion because it seem too much trouble to change water and stuff, but the leeks are much bigger.
Green onions are different from white onions, but it should root, it's one of those vegetables that would root in water. Also, carrot tops.
>>8795767
instead of garlic powder or onion powder better to just saute/fry some up real quick to use as a topping
>>8792680
>syrup
what the fuck is wrong with you?
>>8798344
Ask me over dinner. Your treat.
>>8792676
Use as little water as possible, add soy sauce and sesame oil, plus whatever vegetable you have, and you have a chow mien type thing.
>>8798357
deal, as long as we're not having syrup fucking ramen
>>8798385
No. Relax. That was reserved for my starving student days. It did the trick, however.
>>8798328
I managed to get the useless stuff off and there's a root starting and a green spot coming in on top, so it's going.
I just have 0 things to put plants in left and rumors of another frost are about. Already have 10 pots to move around.
It's a white onion so there's no way I want to put it in anything small, I'll just do this for a couple days and find a pot.
Was asking yesterday because I didn't know how to cut it for replanting but it seems like you can just push up on the root bundle and take the small piece out. Thanks.

I guess I'll post this although >>8792878

get some shin ramyun, one pack fills me up and its like 500 kcals a pack, shits good.
then again, it does have a metric ton of salt in it
>>8793528
>Its not cheap
you can argue taste, thats subjective
but your a fucking idiot if you dont think instant ramen is affordable
>>8798408
I unironically add a dash of top shelf maple syrup to my stirfry dishes when they're almost done. Gives a unique and exotic kind of taste I guess. Idk I like it, my ex hated maple flavor but really dug it in that.
>>8798805
I find that honey and maple syrup can be used in many foods. Just dont mention it.
>>8798823
Snekey flavor ninja flaves...
>>8794388
Are you stupid? My instant noodles are 30p a pack, that's cheap as fuck. Rice and beans cost me shit tons more and taste like asshole.
