What is the maximum amount of time takeout leftovers can remain in your fridge and still be safe to consume?
I've got Indian takeout in my fridge that is 6 days old and I want to eat it but I don't want to get food poisoning because I'm going out tomorrow night.

>6 days old
Bin. one or two days it should be ok. I'd throw it on the third day.
learned a trick from an old air force vet. he got served rotten shit all the time on active duty and nothing you could do about it.
he said if you just microwave the fuck out of any food it kills the bacteria. so even 30 day old leftovers could be consumed if you microwave it long enough.
whether you want to eat that kind of stuff is another matter

What are toxins?

Well He's not wrong. If you get anything hot enough long enough it'll kill anything living on it and make it technically safe to eat, if not terribly tasty

Stuff that dies in microwaves. This dude was healthy.

You have to sometimes have to worry less about bacteria and more about the toxins they leave behind i.e. botulism

There are some bacteria that thrive in the heat you know, but fair enough solution if you have no choice
Shit, I'd eat week-old takeout even if it weren't in the fridge.
If it doesn't smell funny or have visual defects it's probably fine.

I've eaten chinese food left in the fridge almost a month before. It sucked, but not because it gave me food poisoning or anything, it just tasted bad. Just don't half-ass it when you're re-heating it, make sure it's very hot all the way through.
