If a recipe calls for cornstarch can I just use flour instead? I don't want to go to the store just for cornstarch.

What is the usage?
Coating before pan frying?
Thickening a sauce?
Generally speaking, yes, but keep in mind that corn starch has more thickening power than flour.
Ever heard of google?

If you're thickening a sauce, I'd recommend making a light roux with the flour.
2 parts oil or butter, 3 parts flour. Let the oil fry the flour a little, constantly stirring, only for a few minutes. It should turn a few shades lighter than peanut butter.
Whisk into your liquid that you need to thicken.
