How do Americans feel about kraft dinner?

In Canada it's a food staple but American's seem pretty humble on " kraft macaroni and cheese".
>>
Adults don't eat kraft mac and cheese.

It's children's food. One tier above baby food.

It's pretty damn tasty when you're stoned, though.
>>
>>8582994
It's absolutely poorfolk food. Cheap carb and fat as a side dish. used to have it all the time growing up. Every once in a blue moon I'll crave it if I'm hungover.
>>
>>8583000
you never lived til you whip up a box of kraft dinner after a night of drinking
>>

kraft is for babbies

>>
>>8582994

y tho?
>>
>>8583014
And making your own pasta and sauces is for men who can cook.
>>
>>8583019
Because it's fucking delicious.
>>
>>8582994
The best part about Kraft dinner is that you don't need to chew it, just swallow
>>
My cousin almost exclusively eats pepperoni pizza, chicken nuggets, and Kraft macaroni and cheese. Based on that, you might imagine how it is I see the dish.

On the other hand, I'll scoop a small bowl for myself if I'm making it for him. I loved it as a kid so it's a nice comfort food.
>>
>>8583019
Because outside of cities most people live under the poverty line and craft dinner is "cheap", contains a shit ton of carbs and fats, and has the familiar "comfort food" taste that these people crave. I say "cheap" because we all know buying staples and actually cooking is more affordable, but this is for drop dead microwave fatasses who drive trucks with huge stickers of "Our home on native land" while being 1/16th aboriginal.

I live in one of the poorest counties in Ontario and work at No Frills, and people by Craft Dinner 10+ boxes at a time, I am not shitting you. Also, these people are all at least 200-250lb minimum.

>>
American here. Shit troll thread, but serious answer coming.

Kraft is mediocre compared to more traditionally homemade mac 'n cheese.
Best results, few tbsp of butter and a handful of real cheese on top of the powdered shit they supply.
God mode, add a little tomato sauce to it.

That's it. Nothing more to discuss.
>>
>>8583034

I'm down with that.
>>
I've always had a special place in my heart for Hamburger Helper - Cheeseburger Macaroni. I'm sure lots of you have eaten it before, either because it was cheap or just didn't feel like eating anything else.

Anyways, you can use kraft mac in place on hamburger helper and not only does it taste better, but kraft mac is like half the price too.
>>
>>8583038

hot sauce, barbecue sauce.

Canada has a false sense of identity so we grasp onto anything we have like the Tim Hortons nation-wide circlejerk for example. Every commercial talking point is always hurr durr we're so Canadian, playing hockey, etc, but any self respecting canuck knows Timmies is garbage.

and we let all the real Canadian companies fall apart and die like Harvey's and Zellers, and bring in American bullshit like Target and 5 guys
>>
>>8583045

Hot sauce, maybe.
BBQ sauce, no.
>>
>>8583048
Also, we have our own specialty coffee franchise called Second Cup but it doesn't quite roll off the tongue like Starbucks and isn't nearly as instagramable
>>
I can't eat it anymore, I don't know why.

I used to eat it all the time as a kid, but nowadays when I eat it, it leaves this fucking foul chalky texture in my mouth after I eat just a few spoonfuls.
>>
>>8583038
OP here, not a troll thread just curious.

your serious answer was neither helpful or entertaining. traditional mac and cheese is mid tier compared to KD(God tier).

honestly who would add tomato sauce to mac and cheese beside trailer trash.
>>
>>8583073
you're making it wrong then. Use 3 Tbsp butter, 3/4 cup of milk for the best recipe
>>
>>8583066
I really wish Second Cup got a better rap and more exposure. I blame the frou-frou bullshit drinks at Starbucks for making them all the more prolific. It's basically what I refer to as one of those "white girl" cultural staples.

>>
white cheddar no name brand mac n cheese is the only way, with bacon of course
>>
>tiny crappy noodles

>>
>>8582994
I crave it every once in a while, and the fried mac bites people make are good. But other than that, it's pretty much subpar shit.
>>
>>8582994
This shit is great when combined with a can of chili.

It's so trashy but so filling.
It's like eating a whole tub of ice cream, it's comfort food basically.
>>
>>8583022

He probably adds it for the acid.

Plain mac and cheese is gross. It really needs an extra acid component to be good.
Most people tend to use vinegar / vinegar based sauces though.
>>
>>8582994

I guess it's an option if you're too retarded to boil pasta or grate cheddar cheese.
>>
>>8582994
Canada is such a sad, soulless place. Holy fuck I'm so thankful I'm not Canadian.
>>
It's not great. I'll have it once in a blue moon because I think, "it can't be that bad," but it always is. Annie's is better, but even that is kind of crappy. Also I can eat a whole box easily and that's enough salt to pickle your organs.
>>
>>8583000
Not with that attitude they don't.
>>
>>8583034
What an obnoxious video. Everybody thinks they're a fucking comedian, now.
>>
>>8583025
Yeah I did this once and threw up and filled the sink with macaroni and cheese.
Granted it was velveeta shells, not the kind of kraft in the pic. But they're both made by kraft.

Anyway since then I always chew my macaroni and especially don't rush through it.
>>
I like it with hot dog slices and peas/corn

I'm Canadian and sometimes I eat like human trash I regret nothing
>>
>>8586698
Is your girlfriend a trap?
>>
>>8584377
I think it's because it has the same amount of cheese powder and you mix it normal and makes it thinner sauce because they give you less pasta in the shapes boxes so a higher cheese sauce to pasta ratio plus the shapes hold the sauce better than the flimsy mini elbows in the normal box and there isn't as much pasta to absorb it.
>>
>>8582994

It's like some people like abusing their taste-buds with this bottom-feeder tier stuff.
>>
I can't stand the bright orange mac and cheese out of a box. I don't like ketchup either so maybe it's just the egregiously colored american "food" items that I'm not a fan of
>>
Eat regularly. One of the few things I can cook. They give them out all the time at the food bank, have a ton of mac n cheese laying around.

Its disgusting white trash swill made by a huge corporation to make sure you are addicted to processed sugar and transfats from you are a child, eventually turning you into a disgusting fat american slob who is apathetic about the political situation in their country, resulting in total jewish domination.

>tfw KD used to have a reasonable amount of flavor in the included powder
>Now it's garbage
Basically just powdered food coloring desu
>>
annie's white cheddar is better

The cheese powder has more flour in it to make the roux but less cheese product in the powder. You end up with almost no flavor except the roux it almost makes so a pasty flour flavor with milk and a small hint of possibly some kind of cheese type taste but just pasty, crappy taste because of all the butter and flour

I don't get it.
Even if you don't want to make it from scratch because you're a lazy fuck and just want a hot convenience food, frozen mac and cheese like pic related is way better.

>"this processed trash is better than this processed trash."

yeah nah, if you're too lazy to make your own from scratch you should neck yourself
>>
>>8603038
>neck yourself
Disregarded entirely and confirmed retarded.

All other instant mac and cheeses can fuck off (except for Velveeta shells, that shit's good).

However, I prefer mac and cheese that's made from scratch. My grandmother gave me a recipe in which colby jack (I substitute low-moisture mozzarella) is melted into boiling condensed milk. The mixture is then poured over shell pasta, topped with panko bread crumbs, and baked for 15 minutes at 350.

Yeah, it's garbage food, but there's still tiers of garbage.
At least stouffers has cheese as third ingredient instead of barely existent cheese in the cheese flavored powder of kraft.

no one, I don't give a shit if it says "organic", I like Annie's because I legitimately feel it tastes better. Kraft tastes too sweet.
>>
>>8603110
agree to disagree here, it tastes salty a f and as long as the butter you use isn't too sweet it works out alright.

I find it funny that it's "Kraft Dinner" up there. Worded that way as though that is all that Kraft produces that can be eaten for dinner. But - there is nothing like boxed Mac and Cheese. Sometimes the non-Kraft variety (store brands) actually turn out better.

As bad as it may be for you to eat, I defy you to find another food that provides "about 2.5 servings as prepared" for under $0.50 (minus the milk and butter or - if you go full trashy - margarine).

He's 15 and I tutor him at his home, so I make him dinner while I'm there.
