I want to take my gf to one of those prime places where you need to literally shell out a car payment to have appetizer, main course (prime steak of course) side, dessert and drinks.
has anyone here done this and how would you rate the experience overall?
poorfag here. took my gf out for her birthday a few months back. the place wasn't a michelin joint but definitely the fanciest i've ever eaten at. all told check with tip was like $450. food was great but honestly just having her enjoy the atmosphere of somewhere kinda upscale was worth it

If you can't afford to do this and do it anyway, you're just catering to the Jew.

He only said it twice, though.
make the reservation a month or two in advance, think about how nice it will be once or twice a day, and then cancel it 24 hours before. it's a free way to get most of the enjoyment out of a restaurant.

Nicest place I took my ex to we had an appetizer, each had ab entree, and had two mixed drinks each, came out to $160. Was pretty nice but we both agreed that it wasn't worth it when we enjoy ourselves just as much at cheaper restaurants.
what city do you live in, OP?

If you can spare the money then it's a cool experience and the food will be amazing. Don't blow your budget though or you will regret. It's not that much better than a regular fine dining place and the portions are generally small as well.
