What the fuck? I accidentally bought these. How is this a thing? Who enjoys this?
>>
They're pretty good.

Grab a toothpick, a sleeve of saltines, your favorite hot sauce, and a bottle of bourbon, and go to town.
>>
They're delicious. Drain the oil, grab a fork and dig in.
>>
>>8503177
What did you think you were buying?
Eat them on a premium plus cracker with a little hot sauce
>>
>>8503187
toothpicks
I'm vegan I don't eat oyster

you know oysters have no brain and are the most environmentally sound crop on earth?
>>
Tastes delicious, just like most thing involving oysters... even more so since it is smoked.
>>
>>8503202
They're sentient life. They feel pain.
>>
>>8503204
they don't feel pain

they're as sentient as a mushroom or a carnivorous plant
>>
>>8503204
>They feel pain
Not if they don't have a brain

That's you're opinion
>>
>>8503266
it's a fact that oysters are one of, if not the most environmentally sustainable crops
>>
>>8503286
I'm still allowed to believe it's immoral to eat them
>>
>>8503253
Listen, I don't give a shit about what your diet is, but this "data" is garbage.

I only had to skim this blog to see that the author uses his own opinion articles as citations. His ultimate argument centers around the fact that since other animals have been found to feel pain we can't take chances with oysters.

Even a cursory google search shows oysters have no brain and don't react to pain.

At the end of the day all you're doing is trying to virtual signal about what a good vegan you are on /ck/.

TL:DR Your evidence is shit, leave this board and don't come back.

>>
>>8503313
You're projecting
>>
>>8503313
The author made some very good points and any decent vegan knows not to eat oysters. You just have problems with vegans.
>>

>>
>>8503306
and i'm allowed to think you're a hypocrite for thinking it's more "moral" to prefer crops that require hectares of arable land, fertilizers made from the blood and bones of sentient beings, and boat loads fresh water

Not him, but how is that ridiculous? He didn't even mention animal manure for fertilizer. It perfectly fits the definition of hypocrisy.
>>
>>8503359
>>8503381
As I said earlier
Do your research

I only eat safe organic food

And no! Animals aren't harmed in the process
>>
>>8503396
lol. now i know you're baiting

but in case you're as stupid as you come across, the #1 organic fertilizer is chicken shit and #2 is slaughterhouse waste
>>
>>8503405
Not baiting. I don't believe anything you say.
>>
>>8503410
then you're stupid

congratulations
>>
>>8503405
Shit, I completely forgot, that chicken shit is the property of the chicken, I shouldn't be stealing from the chickens and thus violating the NAP, dog bless america *sues chicken for stealing my bird seed*
>>
>>8503417
No you are
>>
>>8503396
>only eat organic vegetables

Since synthetic fertilizers are not permitted under USDA organic certification, the growers of the vegetables you consume are using animal manure, fish emulsion, blood meal for nitrogen, and bone meal for calcium and potassium. You think the organic growers wander around springfed fields collecting cowpies? How are fish emulsion, blood and bone meal obtained without the death of the animal? Death by natural causes?

While reputable organic growers use broad spectrum pyrethrins only rarely to combat unusually severe insect infestations, they still use other control methods to eliminate destructive insects which, although in your worldview are "eww, bugs, yucky," they are animals. Furthermore, rodents, rabbits and even deer have to be eliminated if they're attacking the crops.
>>
>>8503518
Where exactly are you getting this information
>>
>>8503529
go visit a fucking farm you b12 deficient brain dead retard
>>
>>8503204
They don't feel as much pain as the little animals that get mutilated by the farming equipment used to harvest your food.
>>
>>8503529
Kill yourself so we can use your remains as fertilizer.
>>
>>8503529
By researching how to grow organic vegetables so that I can grow my own on 1 acre for a spring, summer and fall season - which I've been doing successfully for the last 5 years. By talking to organic farmers at farmers markets and visiting their farms.

How is it you "only eat organic" and know nothing about the process? Did you decide it was a good thing to do because your favorite pop singer or actress said she did it?
>>
>>8503213
Naturally they don't experience pain as we do, but they should have some negative response to danger and should be able to neurologically detect "unpleasantness"

Smoked Oysters are the fucking bomb

But Cottonseed Oil?

That stuff isnt good for you, and it usually gives me headaches if I eat anything more than a tiny bit of it.
>>

Yeah, cottenseed oil is cancer. You should be getting all your canned seafood in either water or sauce.

Nope. You have no power here. You can always go to reddit if you're looking for an echo chamber.
>>

I't's my own property, but I had to build up the soil since it's very much clay. Fortunately I know a cattle farmer that allows me to clean out his barns for free cattle manure. Then I used clover and vetch cover crops which also add nutrients back to the soil. The biggest thing is start in a smaller area and get your soils ready in an expansion area. Also the most important thing for preventing damaging insect infestations and soil fertility is crop rotation.

Once you get the soils built up, the seeds are incredibly cheap. You have to dedicate time, but weed control can be achieved with ground covers. It's a hobby that pays off ultimately because you're doing manual labor to burn calories and growing healthy, fresh food cheaply.

You would be shocked how much produce you can grow cheaply in an 8x8 plot.
>>
>>8503336

>i don't believe it's selfish, to eat defensive shellfish

Wow, I haven't actually listened to that since probably middle school.
>>
>>8503691
Cottonseed oil has an excess of omega-6 oils, which most people get too much of in their diets. Ideally you want to have an 1 to 1 ratio of omega-6 to omega-3, but for the average person in non-East Asian countries it's 15:1. Over-consumption of omega-6 fats leads to more oxitive damage over time (this accelerates cancer, aging, heart disease, etc). That combined with over-consumption of sugar is literally cancer for your body.

You can combat omega 3-6 imbalance by eating fatty seafood which is rich in omega-3.
>>
>>8503699
I usually steam them open with wine, get them out of the shell, and then put them on a dehydrator mat inside my smoker. Then I smoke them for about 2 hours.

I do the same for mussels.
>>
>>8503734
Thanks anon! I'll look into it a bit more later.
