Excuse me, this is a legit thread about new cooking methods.

I've been curious about them because I hate frying foods as it makes a mess and it uses so much oil.

But over the years I've learned to avoid kitchen gadgets. Especially ones made with/of plastic because they break/melt easily and are a ridiculous pain in the ass to clean.

Do they actually work/are they worth it?

I saw a commercial for one of these when I was at the gym. It seems like a pretty cheap gimmick imo. Fried food is delicious because of all the fat. Our brains love that shit.

When I can manage to get it perfectly crispy in the oven I think it's just as good. Problem is getting it perfectly crispy in an oven is not as easy.

I'd love to try one, but from what I read it's basically a oven with a nice mixing-while-baking function.

My mom's got one and everything she's made came out lackluster compared to the oil-fried version.

Egg rolls came out really sad looking.

I've used one, it is OK. As others have said it is basically a small specialized convection oven. That being said it can produce some rather decent fries, just don't set your expectations incredibly high. If you have a convection oven already, you can probably replicate the results already with the right recipe and settings. If you have an oven, this can still be useful to free up use of the oven for other things.

I've been using one for many months now
I use it to cook just about anything I'd cook in the oven
It cooks veggies absolutely perfectly. Like holy shit I do not want to go back to eating them from an oven. Same with everything else I cook in it.
Only thing I use my oven for now is bread pretty much.
Cooks tendies perfectly too. Just like you'd get from a fast food place.

Parents have one. Made tendies with it, they were pretty good. Also made churros, but they weren't as good. Might try tempura next
