Japanese-American, eat plain calrose rice with most of my dinners. I know it isn't the same as real Japanese short grain rice, but it is what I ate growing up.

Dont know what type it was but there was some longgrain rice in afgahnistan that was amazing. It was the only thing i could always count on to be good
