Quick, /ck/, I need an answer.
How long does tetra pak-ed stuff stay good after the expiry date? I have some tetra pak potato soup that expired at the end of October, but it was sealed and looks and smells fine. Safe to eat, as long as I bring it to a boil, or am I risking poisoning?
Pic unrelated, but awesome.
it's fine

Don't eat it you fucking loonball.
How did you not notice it for 3 months?
So, I'm eating it. Tastes fine, we'll see if I get sick or not. I let it boil for quite awhile.
But most of the info I found online said it was safe, so we'll find out.
It's probably fine, the question is whether you trust your senses enough to risk eating it to save a couple dollars on soup
Just an update, I'm not dead yet, nor am I having any stomach or intestinal issues, so I'm going to call it good. Which is nice, because I found another of the same in the back of the pantry, so at least I can use it up. (I hate wasting food, it's shameful).
Anyway, the thread can die now.

I work in a supermarket and I don't understand why canned soup has such a long self life compared to foil or tetra packed soup. I'm always taking tetra soup off the shelf because it's past it's used by date

I'd go two months, but not three on canned goods. You'd probably see obvious mold on top of there has been a seal leak. Your call.

with tetra pack soup it should almost like with canned goods. when the package doesn't start to expand, it is probably ok
