take a small amount and eat them with milk or however you like them. if they taste normal, they should be good to go. dry stuff doesn't really go bad

No but if you've had a plastic bag of oats in your fridge for 5 years you might consider reevaluating your life. Your condition has likely deteriorated more than theirs
