I spend nearly as many days of the year traveling as I do not traveling because of my job. I exclusively eat in my motel rooms, usually either cooking something myself or if I don't have the time take-out.

I work in consulting so I'm quite often out, sometimes with a colleague, sometimes not.

Doesn't feel weird at all, people need to eat, alone or not.
