In a video I watched the brewer said that pouring the beer into a glass exposes it to oxygen and therefore decreases the flavor and taste, whereas drinking straight from the can keeps a layer of co2 over the beer thus preserving freshness as you drink.
Not sure if I agree or disagree with this, but there you go. I homebrew myself and have no qualms drinking straight from the bottle or pouring into a glass.
