Hey /ck/ I got these packets of instant coffee, they're smaller stick pouches inside, the problem is they expired in 2012.
Despite that, with all this packaging, do you think it's safe to drink?
How can I truly tell if coffee is bad? A smell? Do I brew it and ope it doesn't turn green?

I would assume they're still safe to drink. There's nothing in there that could actually spoil (rot, grow bacteria, etc.)
Worst case the flavor will be off.

Same as any other food. Ignore the date and look at the product. Do you see mold? Slimy bacterial growth? Disgusting smells? If you don't see any of that than it's fine.
It turns out it comes with creamer and sugar already added.
Smell is pretty feint, doesn't smell like much at all dry.
Gonna add some hotte watter.
Smells like nothing really, I'll take a sip when it's not piping hotte.
>special flavour
How the hell would you know if it were off

Because there is no mistaking food that is rancid or rotten. That's not something vague like "special flavor" it's "I want to puke right this instant"
OP here i'm literally puking blood.
