A quick glance at his Wikipedia page suggests he was a cunt anyway.

he was a great writer. I expect the answer to my question is no anyway. neither michel richard nor - at the other end of the culinary scale - the guy who invented the big mac got any F's here this year.

There was certainly at least one thread about the Big Mac guy.

Bob Wian invented the Big Mac in 1937, decades before the idea was stolen by a McDonalds franchisee, for his Bob's Big Boy restaurant chain . He died in 1992, not recently.

He was undeniably an amazing food writer and unlike many critics, actually worked in the industry for a long time before his writing career took of. It is also true that he was a giant prick on occasion, in what is very much a part of the British media culture, but he gave and he took; fair play. I'll miss his writing

I hated his articles and he came across as a twat but 63 is too young to go. I wish everyone could go out like Michael Winner who was so self-absorbed in his own private little life that he didn't even notice. In his 80s too.
