Lactose-free milk tastes like that because they use enzymes to hydrolyze the lactose into it's monomers: glucose and galactose, both of which are sweeter on the tongue than lactose. If I were you, I'd give up on milk and just get my dairy via tasty fermented products. Any cheese over 3 months old will not have lactose in it as the fermenting organisms within have eaten it all!
