Come to south ga and let me cook some real soul food for you. Don't get me wrong I do dig on creole food, but my chicken fried steak and gravy, fried chicken, collard greens, fried okra, mashed potatoes, biscuits, and corn bread are way better
Former french colony and (briefly) Spanish territory. Two of the best culinary traditions Europe combined with North American ingredients and it's not surprising that some excellent foods came out of Louisiana
