Best way to remove scratched teflon? A local thrift store gives away all the badly messed up stuff. I've tried sanding, it doesn't have much of a grip. I've tried grinding, it takes off too much metal.
Grind with a wire brush attachment.
if this is a pastime you plan to devote significant time to I'd recommend sandblasting
Burn cooking side down over a wood fire, it'll turn it to dust
Use a blowtorch. Make sure you wear a mask while you do it.

Next time you see scratched up Teflon™ pans at Goodwill do a 360º and browse the books...beat up Teflon™ pans will kill you. The poison you even when they aren't scratched up.

See that pronounced texture on the pan? Its purpose is to make it hard to scratch off all the teflon. You're gonna have to grind it down smooth to the lowest valley to get it all off.
