Hey, /ck/. Before my final exam in my Spanish course at my university I have the opportunity to cook something from a Spanish-speaking country (doesn't have to be enough for the entire class). All I have to do is talk about it and its history and shit.
What is something I can cook that is cheap and easy? Preferably something I can bake.
Pic not very related.

While I love paella I'd prefer a real suggestion.

It's a meme, ya dip.

Do something Spanish since South American food is shit tier. Tapas would be good, easy little dishes in different bowls, no great expense and great for that kind of setting.

They take Brazil's multicultural policy as gospel.
Spaniard reporting in, what kind of dish are you thinking about cooking?

Tres Leches cake. You can talk about the history of how it evolved from a medieval European treat and spread to colonial Central America where they had to improvise with what was available to them. Would be good

Honestly, I don't know. It can really be anything. I'd prefer something simple. Maybe some sort of small desert? Like a cookie? I'd like to be able to make enough so everyone can have some if they wanted and cookies are really hard to fuck up.

Maybe arroz con leche? It's a traditional dessert from a region northern Spain (Asturias), pretty easy to make too. Also if I'm not mistaken they make it different in latin america, so maybe you can talk about the evolution of traditional Spanish dishes in the colonies.

every nation on earth makes rice pudding; it's not unique to spanish speaking countries.
