Why did Subway change the way they cut the bread?

The V cut was unique and held the ingredients in much better.
>>
>>8317130
>Expecting the meth addicted people who serve you the food to know how to make a V cut.
>>
Literally never in all my life had a v-cut sandwich from subway
>>
>>8317147
Must be a flyover thing
>>
So the first subway opened in my town today. what is the first thing I should order ?
>>
>>8317147

I'm literally so OCD and autistic about specific food shit, vertical sandwich cuts being a prime example, that I can't possibly imagine this anon being out of touch with the current fast casual sub sandwich etiquette, among the established as well as the newer franchises, and regardless of the fact that I myself have not actually ordered a sandwich from Subway in likely nearing something around half a decade.
>>
>>8317130
I had honestly forget they even did this style of cut: that's how long ago it was.

I don't even think Jared was a mascot at that point.

And they used to have some kind of chicken stuff that was kept in a hot tray like the meatballs. They don't have it anymore.
>>
>>8317168
All those words but you didn't actually say anything.
>>
>>8317164
Tuna.
>>
I never go there. The bread is disgusting and the lettuce isnt fresh.
>>
>>8317202

I dont eat fish
>>
>>8317164
I only ever get roast beef, meatball or chicken fillet. Although I can say that their chicken fillets are about 15% chicken and objectively shit yet I still quite enjoy them.
>>
>>8317236

But is there a variation of sauces to choose also ?
>>
>>8317239
Meatball you don't need any, there's plenty of marinara sauce on the meatballs. I've sometimes asked for extra marina sauce but it just makes the bread soggy.

Roast beef the hot chilli sauce is the go.

Chicken fillet and I have honey mustard.
>>
>>8317252
Not him but they did do it. It was just fucking ages ago. Like 15 years ago or more.
>>
>>8317185

The buffalo chicken? That shit was the bomb.
>>
>>8317164
It's all shit, but when I eat Subway I usually go with meatball or spicy italian. Chipotle sauce is good on meatball.
>>
>>8317164
Sweet onion chicken teriyaki, with lettuce, banna peppers, green peppers, jalapeƱo pepper,,black pepper, extra sweet onion sauce, on an Italian roll.
>>
>>8317130
It was called the "U" cut not the "V" cut. I am old enough to not only remember but worked at a subway years ago when they still did the "U" cut. You had to actually watch a training video on it and the company used to pride themselves on it.

You can still ask for it - and if the employees do not know how to do it feel free to complain to corporate. If you really want to fuck with them, ask for a "U" cut pizza sub with wing effect.
>>
>>8317168
Underrated post
>>
>>8317185
Wasn't that long ago, like 3-5 years maybe lol.
>>
>>8318133
Try closer to 13-15 years at least. You can google it and see people asking about the change in 2003.
>>
I remember vcut in Cali 15-20 years ago
>>
What in the fuck is a V (or U) cut?
Like, cutting it diagonally or something?
>>
>>8317147

Me either, I'm pretty sure most don't.

>>8317164

Most people will try out a few things, then finally decide on something, and it becomes "Their" sandwhich, then they end up always getting the same thing every time they go.

For me it's Turkey/Ham with provolone,
Lettuce, Tomato, extra Cucumber,
Mayo, Honey Mustard, oil, vinegar, salt/pepper

been getting it for ever 6 years, have started changing it up a bit recently though,

now I'll get it toasted half the time, and sometimes will add banana peppers on half.
>>
>>8317168
>I'm so OCD (such as with vertical sandwich cuts)...that I doubt OP as well is ignorant of the reality of V-cuts in new or old Subways. This being said in spite of my own lack of experience with the franchise in recent years
>>
>>8317164

Tuna with salt and pepper before anything else, cucumber directly on the tuna, banana peppers and tomatoes. Add sauce if you feel the need too; I don't, as the tuna is always moist enough for my taste.
>>
If subway sold their bread for say.. $3 for a footlong would you buy it?

Also, do you think that would make them more or less money? (loss of sales from people buying bread instead of sandwhich) (gain of sales, people buying bread in addition to sandwiches / people just buying bread that don't normally buy sandwiches)
>>
>>8319877
No, their bread is fucking gross

The V cut is very old. I remember growing up in Shoreline, Washington. Subway was kind of a new thing back then... maybe around the early 90's. It was so good. The tuna was pretty awesome.

We used to walk like almost a mile to a video store that was right next to the subway. Video Superstore... it was all VHS. This was before DVD. And we used to rent NES and SNES games from there if I recall correctly. Being 12 years old and eating subway while playing mario paint and actraiser was a special time. Life has been pretty much downhill since then.
>>
>>8319921
>actraiser
if ever a game needed a remake it's that one. can you imagine monster fighting a la dark souls and then jumping to settlement management? fucking weirdest concept game and i loved it
>>
What the actual fuck even is a "V" cut?
>>
>>8317130
The last time I had subway was about four years ago and they didn't V cut then?
>>
>>8319993
i think they mean a diagonal cut, but they're too stupid to call it that
>>
>>8319993
>>8320002

You cut down from the top, instead of from the side.

>>8319998

They haven't in 15-ish years.
>>
>>8317164
I get meatball toasted with provolone, tomato onion olive sweet pepper and if I feel like it banana pepper. Finish with salt and pepper and a bit of sweet Vidalia onion dressing.

Well, alright then
>>
>>8320013
seriously thought they were talking about how to separate the sandwich into two pieces. so, what difference would a v cut make? more space for innards? better structure?
>>
>>8319921
That got me right in the feelers.
>>
>>8320017

Currently they do a hinge cut, which doesn't actually cut the bread into two pieces.

and the way it's cut now allows for the fixings to spill out the side.

the V cut, made a space for the innards, and used the cut out piece of bread as a sort of plug, to stop the stuff from coming out.

They have a patent on it.
>>
>>8320023
>They have a patent on it.
fuck off. how can you patent how to cut a sandwich?

I'm irked by terrible grammar, but I also know how to read; your entire post is a fucking trainwreck with no meaning. I would draw a diagram of the clauses and phrases you haphazardly threw together, but Kadinsky already painted one.
>>
>>8320288

Pretending like there's anything wrong with that sentence, aside from being a bit of a run on, that makes it in any way more than slightly ambiguous with little more than a couple upgrades from commas to semicolons or perhaps dashes is simply as pretentious as your post and image already make you come off.
>>
>>8319921
>>8319957
Fuck yeah Actraiser, I need to replay that for the 8 billionth time. The music is fucking awesome, too. Time to download an emulator I guess.

On topic, I haven't eaten Subway in a few years because the prices have gone up to ridiculous levels. I can just get a sub at Publix for a lower price than Subway, which is hilarious because pubsubs are at least 8/10 while Subway is a 4/10 at best. The Publix sub is gonna be twice the size of the Subway sammich, too.

We also have Firehouse Subs in town (vry gud) and a few Jersey Mike's (never been but I heard they're decent) and my personal favorite, Hogan's. Local place with two locations that makes sandwiches worthy of the gods themselves for cheap, and they have a bar with draft beer.

Fuck a Subway.
>>
>>8317130
the v cut was so much better for meatballs rip

>upgrades from commas to semicolons or perhaps dashes

>>everything else you typed, including the insane order of words

Fucking hell... I know we're posting on the internet, but have some damn pride in your shoddy craftsmanship. I get drunk and post idiotic shit on this Japanese cartoon pornography website every night. Own your shit. I guess you kind of did (assuming you're the Anon I was roasting) because you responded with an even greater blight on the institution of language entirely.

If you make an attempt to learn how words, phrases, and clauses relate to each other in the English language, then you might find your efforts rewarded when other people actually understand what the fuck you're trying to say. #protip
