I'm trying to limit my caffeine intake but I really like the taste of coffee and the morning ritual of preparation
Are there any similarly strong/bitter tasting beverages that I might use as a substitute?

Your meme arrows weren't clear enough anon.
Don't limit your intake. Coffee is good for you, especially as a morning ritual. You're not a quitter. Keep up the good stuff.

I think it's contributing to me being scatterbrained and high strung though. I'm also weening myself off my other vices like cigarettes/weed/internet as I've had non-stop brain fog for like a year now

slug down a nice porter or stout, they sometimes hit some coffee notes, plus alcohol

Just switch to decaf (either entirely or intermixed with regular). If you buy the good stuff the taste difference is negligible.
