How do you cook your rice and beans? Any tips for how I should improve?

I really like this recipe here and always recommend it when the topic of rice and beans or cheap, healthy food comes up:

I usually add some diced pork belly, too.

for beans I like them meaty so I make a feijoada (brazilian dish). I usually get some pork shoulder or some beef shanks and just simmer them down with the beans with some beef stock, onions, and honestly whatever other veggies you want to include. Turns into a delicious sludge and I just ladle it over white rice.

SOUNDS DELICIOUS. IN PUERTO RICO WE DO SOMETHING SIMILAR EXCEPT WE USE SAUSAGE.

I like to use a sofrito. I make my own by combining onion, garlic, red and green bell peppers and cilantro in a food processor.
I cook that in bacon grease, then add some more chopped onion and ham and cook that for a bit before I add the beans and some stock. You can also add the rice to this last, with enough water and stock to cook the rice, and you have a one-pot meal.
I like to mix it up, sometimes I like to cook them together so the rice is flavored, other times I do more what >>8288004 said and make a bean stew to pour over white rice.

forgot to add, I also typically use tomato sauce as well.

can you go into detail about timing and measurements?
Same thing as you op! Even down to the seasoning. I like to add some chicke or a fried egg on top. Always with some shredded cheese.
I layer it in a bowl. It's a pretty cheap meal.
