Is vegan icecream any good? I was at the expensive supermarket the other day and saw some vegan chocolate icecream and it looked really tasty, but I'm scared.
Better than cheap regular icecream, worse than expensive regular icecream

VEGAN ICE CREAM? WHAT THE FUCK.

Sounds nasty desu you're better off sucking down gutter sludge at least it's organic.

It's not. The consistency is all wrong. You need fat for ice cream to make that creamy calloidal suspension. Vegan ice cream ends up being more like a bland, very fine shaved ice. You can actually see the crystalline structure in it if you look closely. You should not see any crystalline structure in ice cream. It should be uniform and smooth.

Nothing vegan will be as creamy as real cream, so any real ice cream made from real ingredients should be better than a vegan alternative. But most of the ice cream in the supermarket isn't going to be better.

I've had vegan ice cream made with a combination of coconut milk and cashew cream that got pretty close. Only the slightest chalky consistency.

coconut based ones can be more creamy than real icecream, it's not like plants don't make fat
The So Delicious Cashew Snickerdoodle is amazing.

"looking tasty" is the only good thing you can say about majority of vegan food.
coconut vegan ice cream is god tier but so expensive i usualluy just buy dairy queen or pic related instead
t. non vegan
Some vegan ice creams are ok but the new Ben and Jerry's is the shit. It takes just like their milk ice cream and the texture is dead on. I really can't tell the difference between the two.
