Rocks ass, never had a problem blending anything.

Use it for milkshakes, smoothies, soups, grinding coffee beans (don't drink enough coffee to justify a burr blender).

AvE did a teardown of the Vitamix. The damn thing is built like a tank. You can't go wrong with it.

I have a cheap heavy duty blender that does everything I want. Vitamix is a good blender, but I don't think it's necessary to spend a lot on a blender if you are just making shakes or pureeing soup.
